Getting to Ithaca

Corson-Mudd Hall
Tower Road

Ithaca, NY 14853

Arriving by Car

VisitIthaca.com has a dedicated page containing up-to-date information on getting to Ithaca.  If you have any questions about taking a plane, car, or bus into Ithaca, or about taxis, airport shuttles, and rental car agencies, visit this site for advice and relevant contact information.

Google Maps or a GPS should allow you to easily approach Ithaca from your preferred direction.  In the event of snow, consider sticking to larger roads.  This would mean taking Rt. 13 north from Elmira, or I-81 north from Binghampton or south from Syracuse and then Rt. 79 or Rt. 13 west to Ithaca.

Be advised that downtown Ithaca is characterized by one way East-West streets which alternate direction, and that the topography of the area means that twists and hills are common.

If you have a spare seat, please consider carpooling.  Email us (sinners.cornell@gmail.com) and we can put you in touch with anyone needing a ride to the meeting.

Cornell can be reached via the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (7 minutes from Cornell by car) or the Syracuse or Binghampton airports (each about 1 hour from Cornell by car.)  Confirm the cost and availability of taxi, airport shuttle, or car rental services to Ithaca from your airport of choice before booking your flight.

Meeting location

Corson-Mudd Hall on Cornell University’s central campus (red star) will serve as the meeting venue.  If driving to campus, the easiest place to park should be the Crescent lot (blue triangle) south of Corson-Mudd Hall.  Parking in most campus lots along Campus Road is free on weekends.  (The red line marks a closed road, and the orange line marks the detour for that road.)

The Tompkins County public transportation system runs buses which reach the Ithaca airport, Ithaca bus station, Cornell campus, downtown Ithaca, and run near many hotels.  Fares and schedules are available on their website (http://www.tcatbus.com) and day passes are available.  However, it will likely be easier to hire a taxi or coordinate riding with another meeting attendee if you don’t have your own car.
